GOLF PERFORMANCE COACH

Colin's master's is in Sports Conditioning and Performance, from Southern Utah University. He carries the CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which requires a degree and a two-part exam, along with a Level 1 certification from USA Weightlifting.
He joined Seattle Golf Fitness through our internship program, which is not what the word usually implies. It takes coaches who already hold extensive strength and conditioning qualifications and builds the golf-specific side on the floor: the screening, the swing characteristics, the way a program changes when the sport is played standing still and swinging fast.
He earned his bachelor's in Kinesiology and Exercise Science at the University of Utah, after two years playing collegiate lacrosse at Whittier College. At Utah he interned with the Olympic Sports Performance program, working with men's golf, alpine skiing, lacrosse, baseball, volleyball, and gymnastics. That is an unusually wide set of physical demands to learn from, and several of those sports ask for the same things golf does: rotation, balance, and producing force from a base that won’t stay still.
For the past three years he coached at a private performance facility in the Salt Lake City area, training youth athletes, college athletes, and adults. Colin is well prepared to coach in a facility where a scratch golfer, and someone picking the game up at fifty, train an hour apart.
Colin grew up in Bellevue and went to Sammamish High School, where he played lacrosse, soccer, and skied. Now he golfs, and Seattle Golf Fitness is a return home.

WHAT I WORK ONBalance and force absorption
Skiing and gymnastics taught me a lot about controlling a body that’s being pushed around. Golf asks for the same thing, just quieter, and it’s usually the thing that goes first under fatigue.
Meeting people where they are
I have coached twelve year old’s and sixty year old’s in the same week. The principles don’t change, but how hard you push and how fast you progress absolutely does.
Enjoying the work
Training only works if you keep showing up. I would rather you leave a session wanting the next one than wrecked from this one.
